Business Integrators are highly skilled project managers that oversee various portfolios within a business, freeing up top-level management to focus on business growth. They bring clarity, communication, and consistency to your business, and are experts at keeping leadership teams accountable and goal-focused.

At Fusion, we employ the services of a Business Integrations Manager and have seen first-hand the benefits of incorporating this role into our staffing structure.

Because our CPA firm is powered by the Entrepreneurial Operating System® we strive to align our business structure and processes to promote clarity and alignment with our vision. This is where the Business Integrator plays a crucial role for us, as integrators encourage focus, discipline, and accountability within our team.

Not only does the role help management teams to translate big-picture visions into attainable components that make the holistic objective of projects come together; but it also ensures that all internal and external teams are kept goal-focused.

We asked Danielle Palmer, our Integrations Manager at Fusion CPA, to help you understand her role and how it contributes to the bigger picture at our firm; and how it may benefit your business in the same way.

Understanding the Role of a Business Integrator

Hi there, my name is Danielle and I’m the Integrations Manager at Fusion CPA. I’ve been working at Fusion CPA since June 2018 and have been an integral member of the team since then, helping to execute our CEO Trevor McCandless’ vision for the firm. I want to talk about the role of a business integrator and how they can help your organization grow.

As someone who’s been in the trenches, I understand how important it is for businesses to have a clear vision and strategy for growth. But as important as it is to have a big-picture plan, it’s equally important to have someone who can make it happen.

In my experience, I’ve found that business owners and entrepreneurs often find it difficult to manage both the daily processes of their business while also maintaining high-level business development objectives. While visionaries can manage the tasks that an Integrator is responsible for, they often find themselves stretched thin and losing focus on the areas they’re passionate about. I’ve seen this firsthand, and it’s why I believe that having a passionate integrator on your team is crucial to the success of your organization.

What is an Integrator?

So, what is an integrator? Essentially, they’re the visionary’s right-hand person or their number two. They’re responsible for harmoniously uniting critical functions of a business and creating focus, accountability, and alignment. I like to think of us as skilled executive project managers who run and manage the various tasks within a business to free owners up to work on the growth strategy of the business.

The Integrator’s role can have many different titles, including VP, Director of Operations, COO, President, or Chief of Staff.

Their duties typically include the following:

  • Executing a business plan
  • KPI and goal setting: digesting big ideas and creating a workable way in which to implement them
  • Managing projects and processes from start to finish and identifying the players necessary at each phase of a project
  • Managing the work of all contributors and tying it all together
  • Providing regular updates to key players throughout a project

Integrators wear multiple hats within a business and some of the key skills they require to be successful include collaboration, planning, requirements gathering, and the ability to scale projects effectively.

At Fusion CPA, we understand the importance of having the right integrator on board. The role has proven to be crucial for us, and we believe that when recruiting an integrator, it’s imperative to look for leadership skills that align with the culture you’re trying to create within your organization.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed and need help identifying areas within your business where an integrator could help alleviate some of the pressure, I encourage you to schedule a discovery call with me.

Together, we can determine the best course of action that suits your unique needs and goals. Let’s work together to achieve sustainable growth and take your business to the next level.
